Beach Wedding out of the Fire and into the Rain

Setting the stage for this weekends wedding, we are at the House of Refuge in Stuart, which is of course right on the beach. Due to beach renurishment and construction, the ceremony was set up on the south side of the building. First thing as we arrive on scene and speak to the planner about the floorplan, we learn that the DJ has cancelled for some reason and the reception in doubt. No worries, couple quick phone calls, and voila, we have them a DJ. Major kudo’s go out to DJ Lou from Paragon, who immediately cancelled his plans to visit he ailing father in law, and rushed over to the scene to pull the reception out of the fire. Once we got them married, and shot some nice beachy shots n such, we turned it over to Lou, who took right over like he’d been the planned DJ all along. (As we knew he would). Opening dances, speaches, dinner all went fine, and then as the dancing and party had just kicked in…..so did the rains. Which since they had the DJ out in the open, required scrambling to save the equipment and a bit of a hiatus in the party until we could reconfigure the set up under the shelter. Luckily, we had brought our 50in flat screen and already had a slideshow running of their wedding pix taken thusfar, so the folks enjoyed that in the interim. Before you knew it, the music was back on, and the party proceeded with parents dances and cake cutting as expected. Sadly, even in light of all the weather events and delays they were forced to shut it down right at 9pm exactly. Of course that didnt go over well with the crowd, but in reality, a great number of guests had already called it a night and departed due to the rain and such. In the end, it was a super evening and fun for all despite the obstacles put in their path, and you just know that 20 years from now, folks will still be talking about the events of the evening. See a bunch of our faves here, or as always click on their little thumbnail on the right to see all their Florida beach wedding photos online.
