NFL: Lions at Buccanneers in Tampa, 9/11 Weekend Tribute Continues

So after weddings on Friday and Saturday, we woke bright and early for the drive on Sunday to Tampa to cover the Detroit Lions at the Tampa Buccaneers game.   At after shaking off some early rust (hadn’t shot football since X-mas); we settled into a groove as the Lions kind of had their way with the Buc’s, winning 27-20 despite some miscue’s of their own.  Managed some nice shots, and even had one picked by the NFL.COM’s top 10 shots of the week from all the NFL games.  Not a bad way to start the 2011 season for sure.  You can see some of our favorites below by clicking >> Read the rest of this entry »

9/11 Memorial Weekend Wedding Two at Shuckers on the Beach

Saturday found us once again shooting a wedding on the beach.  This time at the Island Beach Resort (aka Shuckers) on Hutchinson Island.   The weather took center stage as the ceremony began late, and by that time the rains had commenced.  Didn’t really matter however, as they’d already moved everything under the patio, so Rachel from Weddings by Rachel managed to get em hitched just the same!  Then the skies cleared long enough for us to run out on the beach and catch some fun action with the bridal party, and of course a few romantics with our bride and groom.  Then it was inside for the party!  Sandy from Shuckers had the room looking fine and everyone had a great time.  You can see some of our favorites by clicking>> Read the rest of this entry »

9/11 Weekend Starts with US Marine and His Bride at the Omphoy on Palm Beach

Friday kicked off this weekends activities with a nice small wedding celebration which ended up at the Omphoy on Palm Beach.  We started off at a local church in Palm Beach Gardens, where Sara and Adam re-tied the knot. (Officially married one year ago) but just now making it public!  Then we zoomed off to Palm Beach and the Omphoy.  The staff was incredibly attentive and saw to every whim of all the guests.  We hopped down on the beach for some romantic pix, then it was back inside for an intimate dinner reception for their guests.   You can see some of our faves by clicking>> Read the rest of this entry »

House of Refuge: Stunning Shots from a Blah Afternoon Engagment Session

The weather around here has been anything but photogenic far too often these past few weeks.  And this session, was almost called off whilst en-route; but we decided to press on and see what we could do.  This session is a great example of using what you do have, and not worrying about what you don’t!   While most folks can manage a good shot when a tremendous sunset occurs, the question becomes; “what happens if there isn’t a great sunset?”.  Good question indeed.  It’s not about the images you make when all the stars align for the perfect sunset…but more often, what images did you come back with when the conditions aren’t so pristine?  Given the nature of what we do, very often we must shoot in whatever the scene is at the time, and make the most out of it.  Kind of what separates the men from the boys really.  Anyway, we got there and set about capturing some images for Erin and Joe, and voila! some magic happened nonetheless.  We even did a bunch of “impromptu” (MSU) shots which turned out to be some of our favorites as well.  Anyway, you can check out more of our faves by clicking>> Read the rest of this entry »

Gifted Engagement Session at Indian Riverside Park

By “gifted” we mean literally, this session was a gift from one of our past brides to our new couple!!  What a fantastic thing to have done, and a remarkable gift.   With a collection of images, any variety of uses are now possible.   The hard part our couple found, was to actually pick one…or even narrow it down to several;   and then,  how best to utilize them.  The new guest sign in books are very popular and let you use a much greater number of images than just an enlargement.  Save the date cards are another cool option, and now we can make all sorts of fancy shapes and sizes on some really cool deluxe paper surfaces as well.  IRSP is one of our favorite sites for this type of shoot too, as you can see here, a very wide variety of settings is available all within easy walking distance, allowing us to capture this entire session in approx 45 min to 1hr.

Saturday’s Wedding Reception at Jupiter Beach Resort a Breeze as TS Emily Washes Out.

Early in the week, everyone was sweating bullets as it appeared TS Emily had its sight set on the Treasure Coast once again with all manner of predictions calling for it to head this way.  Fast forward a few days, and the mountains of Hispaniola did their magic and blew the storm apart making it a distant memory come Saturday’s big event.  Starting at St Rita’s in Wellington, our Denver couple;  Logan and Matt tied the knot in style.  They then endured a harrowing limo ride across town to the Jupiter Beach Resort, where the weather was a bit gloomy, but not their spirits.  After a quick trip to the beach for some pix, we turned things over to DJ Jerry from Kenny Mondo, who once again emceed the party through a huge variety of music for the night!  To see a few of our favorites click>> Read the rest of this entry »

House of Refuge delivers HOT Engagment Session once again!

Its summer time, and the beach is the place to be for sure.  Cool (okay warm) breeze, and light surf made for a great setting for his e-session at an old favorite, The House of Refuge in Stuart.  A great combo of settings with the house itself, the beach, the incredible rock formations, and oh….the river is right across the street to go play with as well.

HOT Wedding at Sundy House in Delray Bch

Well, it was hot…in more ways than one.  It is July after all right?  Saturday it was HOT as you might expect given the date, and we found ourselves once again at the fabulous Sundy House in Delray Bch.   If you haven’t been there you really should check it out.  Its grounds are absolutely fantastic and the staff is also wonderfully attentive as well.  The quaint little b&b style villas is where we found our bride, trying to get ready amidst all the chaos.  We scooted outside for some quickie portraits, then right into the ceremony under the gazebo.  The place is filled with little brooks and bridges and tons of flora and fauna.  Truly a tropical paradise.  Once we got em hitched, our bride wanted to try a different spot for the formals, so we discovered a spot with great light (albeit one with lots of gnats).  After fighting thru them, we wandered thru the trails and made some magic before heading back to the main house for the reception.  They partied and ate and partied some more until everyone was thoroughly….hot.  You can see some of our favorites by clicking >> Read the rest of this entry »

Nascar Daytona Coke Zero 400

Finally getting around to blogging about the Nascar Sprint Cup Race at Daytona, The Coke Zero 400 we covered a couple weeks ago.  After days of rain here, we feared another wash out, but low and behold it was a great evening for a race.  My “post” was to be turns 1-2, which wasnt my favorite choice, but it was ok nonetheless.   Early on a small wreck happened right in front of me, which was cool.  The action tamed quite a bit for much of the race, and I moved from turn 2 back to my original spot in turn one, and wouldnt you know it, 3 laps later a huge pile up happens right were I just LEFT.  Such is luck I guess.

Romantic Beach Wedding as the Skies Threaten

Well, the summer rains have definitely started with a bang! Yesterday found us at the Courtyard Marriott in Jensen Beach once again as Nicole and Phil tied the knot with just an incredible storm brewing just offshore. Weddings by Rachel had the beach and the room all decorated to the nines, and mother nature and Sarah from Giordanos Floral Creations did the rest.  Sandras Cakes whipped up a sensational blue magic cake too!  See for yourself as some amazing backdrops developed. This was a small intimate gathering of 20 or so, and all will have terrific memories from the big day. Also making an appearance were a couple small sharks, a sea turtle, some pelicans and a ghost crab came out to check out the goings on. Good stuff all!!

Wedding at The Mansion at Tuckahoe, a Huge TCB Party

Over a year ago, Stephanie and Alex went to the bridal show at the Mansion at Tuckahoe. Little did the know, they were about to win the grand prize of a “free wedding”. Saturday, saw this finally come to fruition, even though they had replaced a couple of the vendors that were giving free services with some upgrades. (including upgrading to us thankfully). You many recognize these two from the engagement session we did a few months back. It was a terrific session with a legendary shot at the end of them on a dock at sunset, so I knew I had my work cut out to try and top that! Leaving the house, I had one goal. Quite simply I wanted to rock the Mansion like its never been shot before. I love a challenge :D

The vendor list was a great team made up entirely of vendors from the Treasure Coast Brides Magazine as well, and everyone knew each other well and truly worked as a team to make their day the huge success it was. Cardita Formal wear had the guys looking handsome;  Jade from Island Party Rentals (who was hired after the original sponsor was let go), did a fabulous job on the decorations and event planning; Giordanos Floral Creations went outside their comfort zone to create exactly the floral wonders that the bride requested; A Piece of Cake created a cute little seashell cake; Weddings by Rachel created a fantastic personalized ceremony that made their nuptials truly their own. Then DiMichellis handled the buffet in style (despite having one of their trucks totaled on the way); and Bottoms Up Beverage kept everyones glass full for the evening. Once the dinner was finished, it was up to Lynette and Wes from Traxx Entertainment who did a sensational job keeping the crowd dancing and partying all night long, even ending up with a sparkler and Chinese lantern lift off at the end.

Jupiter Beach Resort Wedding With a Few New Tricks up our Sleeves!

Jupiter Beach Resort Wedding Couple by the BeachSaturday found us once again at our perennial favorite;  The Jupiter Beach Resort.  As usual, Jonathan and the staff at JBR had every details tricked out to the nines and proved once again why they are among the best venues in all of Florida.   Darines from Simply Flowers also did her usual spectacular job in the decor and flowers too!  You might remember this couple from their E-session we did a few months back, and it was very nice to be that much more comfortable with everyone on the big day.  Once Rachel from Weddings by Rachel made things official, we wandered out on the rocks/beach for a quick romantic set.  Only this time, we had along an Alien!  An Alien Bee 1600 to be precise.  The new technology allows us to now bring studio lighting onto the beach! (or anywhere else for that matter)  Which gave us some results unlike any we’ve shot there before.  Its  a special treat for us to be able to add something new like this to our repertoire.   Then we headed back into the A/C where DJ Lou from Paragon Entertainment worked his magic and kept the party rocking thru the entire evening.  You can see  a slideshow at the end and some favorites below by clicking >> Read the rest of this entry »

Intimate Wedding at Jupiter Beach Resort

Lots going on for this Mothers Day weekend which found us once again at our old favorite; The Jupiter Beach Resort.  Of course Jonathan and his staff had every detail perfect, even for our “small wedding” of only 20 people or so, which took place right after a “big one” of 150+.  You’d have never known that each bride was anything but the feature event of the day, which is no small feat, but one that they pull off routinely.   After their nuptials on the bluff, our bride and groom had a nice dinner celebration in Sinclairs, JBR’s fine restaurant on site.  The food was amazing, and our group had exactly the day they had envisioned.  To see more click >> Read the rest of this entry »

Wedding at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens a real “Sunfest”

While all of West Palm Bch was abuzz with Sunfest, we were just up the street at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens on Saturday for the wedding of Rachel and William.  The weather cooperated making a wonderful afternoon for our couples big day celebration.  Even though the wedding was in Palm Bch county, their wedding team of vendors was a veritable who’s who from the Treasure Coast, which does host incredible wedding talent for its relatively small size in comparison to Palm Beach.  After Mike from Weddings by Rachel made things official, everyone boarded the bus and headed for the Palm Beach Hibiscus, which is a cool little boutique bed n breakfast resort in downtown WPB.   This wedding is yet another great example of how the number of guests has nothing to do with the fun of the event, nor with the images possible.  They had about 28 people.  DJ Lou from Paragon Entertainment kept the party hopping and even weaved in much of the personal music selections from our bride and groom which is totally not an easy thing to accomplish.   Elena from A Piece of Cake did much the same thing in creating an all new cake flavor at their request as well!  To see more just click>> Read the rest of this entry »

Family Beach Session near Hillsborough Lighthouse

Got the chance to shoot my good friend Joey’s family at the beach right near the Hillsborough Lighthouse in Pompano Bch yesterday. It was one of those sessions where there was no clear goal in mind since we had no idea what we were walking into when we headed down there. A mix of beach and portraits at the house was all we had to go on. Ended up with some cool shots and some wet shoes :D
